Hello Fellow Doodlers!
Rediscover the Written Word
Start preserving the letters and ephemera from the past; old handwritten letters, fabrics from favorite wearables, school papers, handmade cards and notes, report cards, and so much more that we mindlessly toss away ... I love the way Viv Sliwka combines old letters with fabric and collage, even stitching on paper. She describes her techniques in The Cloth Paper Scissors Book by Barbara Delaney, which is on sale now. Her way of assembling these messages from the past honors those we cherish, and I'd like to do that, too. Make sure to view the 'Preview Tab' where it says Take a look inside!
Papercutting. "How do you do that?" It's actually pretty simple... an idea, a little sketching, some good paper and a (very) sharp knife blade (I use #11's). Kim Phillips of Herbrica demonstrates what goes into the creation of papercuts in a free e-book. Her papercuts center around themes, images, and phrases of Judaism. But this papercutting process is all the inspiration you'll need to create papercut art of your own!
No need to buy lots of different colors of glitter! Wendy Jordon shares her glitter technique of coloring it yourself (while creating this card), and it all matches your project perfectly ... watch the video tutorial. This is an awesome technique in using those popular "negative" designs of Dazzles available at Paper Wishes, and Peel-Off-Stickers available at Elizabeth Craft Designs.
Coloring Stamps with Perfect Pearls. Add some shimmer and shine to your next project, not to mention, have a beautiful reason to use the Ranger Perfect Pearls Pigment Powder Kit colors, with this easy to follow tutorial of how easy they are to use. Create dazzling pearlescent effects with Perfect Pearls™! Specially developed with a built-in resin, Perfect Pearls™ Pigments are easy to use wet or dry. The centerpiece of the Martha Stewart Crafts™ Glass Paint Program is the new, specifically formulated paint for glass and ceramic surfaces. Featuring a lovely palette of 120 colors hand-selected by Martha, the paint beautifully enhances glass and ceramics. Dishwasher-safe when cured, the paint comes in seven distinctive finishes: opaque - gloss, pearl, and metallic; transparent - gloss and liquid fill; translucent - fine glitter and frost.
